On November 6, 2018, Richa Awasthi was elected to serve a four-year term on the City Council.
City Councilwoman Richa Awasthi is a long time Foster City resident with her husband Amitabh, and their children Anish and Shyla.
Richa is an active volunteer in the City. She has been committed to serving as Chair of the Foster City Innovation and Technology Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Site Council at Brewer Island Elementary.
Richa brings her unique skills and experience to the Council. She holds an MBA and over 18 years of corporate experience with leading financial services organizations including Franklin Templeton, Charles Schwab, Wells Fargo and Visa. She has worked extensively in the product strategy, development, and management space, having created and managed several innovative products and initiatives. She has a track record of action oriented and collaborative approach in driving innovation.
Currently, Richa is a Vice President of Digital Platforms at Wells Fargo Bank working on platform modernization and evolution initiatives to meet evolving customer expectations from digital banking. Previously, Richa has worked at Visa as Director of Prepaid Products. She focused on unbanked, underbanked and millennials’ use of prepaid cards, understood customer behavior, pain points and drove product development. Richa has also represented Visa in several industry conferences and trade shows, highlighting prepaid card and fintech innovations. Prior to Visa, Richa had a progressive career at Wells Fargo working on several products for retail, online, small business and commercial customers. She launched many products from concept, introduced new market segments and simplified products and customer experience balancing revenue.
Richa is excited to leverage her years of experience and great magnitude of skills to serve Foster City residents. She is eager to continue her community engagement and be the voice of the City’s residents.
